Zero Gravity Labs (0G Labs) is set to create the world’s first decentralized artificial intelligence operating system (dAIOS), thanks to a whopping $290 million investment.
The startup secured a cool $40 million seed fund from a variety of well-known investment firms such as Hack VC, Samsung Next, OKX Ventures, and more.
Alongside this, 0G Labs has also received an additional $250 million through an agreement that gives the company access to a ready supply of funds and a pledge to purchasing its tokens. This means the 0G Foundation, the crew at the helm of the protocol, can access liquid digital assets from over-the-counter exchanges.
Michael Heinrich, the co-founder and CEO of 0G Labs, is excited about the capabilities this fundraising can unlock for decentralized AI.
Development plans are in full swing thanks to these funds. 0G Labs’ AI operating system is projected to revolutionize blockchain-based infrastructure, making decentralized AI applications accessible and more efficient.
As stated in their white paper, the system will feature a modular and layered architecture, including a storage network, a data availability network, and a data serving network to better handle large data volumes and intense computations.
0G Labs promises a secure and decentralized environment for massive data sets, offering an impressive throughput of up to 50 gigabytes per second. One of the unique things it hopes to achieve is real-time AI computation directly on the chain, cutting out the need for off-chain processing and speeding up analysis.
Heinrich and his team are also working towards decentralizing their network, enabling supporters to own part of the critical infrastructure.
AI startups, particularly those dabbling in the realm of blockchain technologies, have been raking in investors’ cash in recent months, bucking the trend in the wider startup scene. Pantera Capital portfolio manager Cosmo Jiang recently discussed this increasing overlap between AI and blockchain in a Cointelegraph interview, predicting AI will soon become as indispensable for businesses as the internet.
Other startups, such as Sentient, have also received significant funding to develop open-source AI platforms, allowing developers to monetize their open-source models and data.
